The CreatedHere Scholarship
Celebrating Excellence in Arts Writing
The language of art, craft, and design is an integral building block in the celebration of the cultural landscape of New Brunswick. The ability to express ideas, and share an appreciation for the visual arts through the written word is a skill to be admired, and to be valued. The CreatedHere Scholarship for Excellence in Writing aims to honour a student with the aptitude and the passion for cultural discourse, to encourage students to continue writing, and to highlight the importance of critical writing in the arts as an important part of the cultural ecosystem.
To commemorate the high quality, highly visible publication that sired a new level of journalistic professionalism for New Brunswick’s art and culture industry over the past seven years, the board of CreatedHere Magazine developed this scholarship. It will serve to recognize the skills of emerging arts writers and honour the long-standing partnership between the magazine and the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design. With the closure of CreatedHere in June 2022, the publication ends, but the dedication of our staff, board, contributors and readership will continue to have an impact through this scholarship.
CreatedHere’s remaining funds after closure were endowed to the NBCC Foundation ($20,243) to fund an annual $700 scholarship to NBCCD students. The NBCC Foundation is a charitable organization that administers annual scholarships and bursaries to students studying at NBCC, NBCCD, and CCNB.
