Last week I received a lovely blue postcard in the mail from fibre artist Deborah Payne. It was blue with pieces of painted egg, lovely indigo-dyed lace and fabric and little washes of blue paint here and there. I loved it! How special to receive a handmade card in the mail. I put it on my wall.

Then I thought, wouldn't it be fun to organize a sort of exchange where people could send each other handmade postcards? What better way to create connections between us? So I came up with The Great Creative Postcard Exchange. The idea is to that you send me your address at mh@createdhere.ca, I'll pair you with someone, you'll then send each other handmade postcards in the mail! You can create a design especially for the exchange, or reuse material from sketchbooks or cast-off work destined to be thrown out. Once you receive your postcard, you can share it on social media using the hashtag #greatcreativepostcardexchange and that way we can see everyone's wonderful creativity!

March can be a dreary month. Let's brighten up each other's mailboxes a little.

I really look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with. And who knows, maybe I'll publish a selection of postcards in the next issue of CreatedHere magazine!
