LOCAL FASHION magazine launch\pop-up shop
THE FASHION ISSUE IS HERE!
The Fashion Issue has been off the press for a couple weeks now and looks mighty fine! It features the photos from the photoshoot at Tin Can beach, features on various NB designers, and even a special insert of paper dolls inspired by designs found in the magazine, which were drawn by Pamela Marie Pierce especially for this Issue. I'm so excited to share it with you all, in all its sleek fashion-y goodness.
I had an incredible launch at TRANSITION fashion show but due to scheduling stuff I've had to be a bit patient and wait for the launch in Saint John - which is this Thursday! Because it's all about fashion I asked Exchange on Germain if they'd want to host a launch and they said yes! The plans progressed and now we're hosting a couple local designers and their work at a launch/pop-up combo.
Exchange on Germain is a local shop that carries luxury consignment items, and they have been looking to support local designers as well. At the pop-up there will be pieces by Cassandra Burrell, along with many by Saint John designer Chavah Lindsay, and Leanne Dussault of East Coast Couture is coming from Moncton with a stash of her work. I've heard there may be a cameo appearance by Dangerous Shirt maker Jeff Alpaugh, who just had a successful appearance on Dragon's Den. Oh, and there will be wine...
Here is a little bit about Chavah and Leanne:
Chavah Designs
Chavah is a designer, wife, mama & Hanson enthusiast. She is the sole proprietor of Chavah Designs - being the one who designs, makes, packages + ships all of your #chavahdesigns garments. She has always been drawn to making and creating - her Mom (who funny enough, despised sewing) taught Chavah to sew when she was 7 & she hasn't stopped since!
Chavah was more formally trained at New Brunswick College of Craft and Design in Fredericton, New Brunswick and then continued on to Humber College in Toronto, Ontario. She now creates high quality custom garments from her studio in Saint John, New Brunswick.
East Coast Couture
(From EastCoastcouture.ca
I started East Coast Couture in 2016 after spending years creating unique pieces for my creative photography sessions. I had the opportunity to co-create a line for a show in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The reception was so amazing that I decided to branch out on my own.
I released my first line in February of 2017 at a fashion event in Moncton, New Brunswick. My line was titled Limitless. Limitless came from not wanting to limit myself to one creative outlet.
I started out as a model nearly 10 years ago, then took up photography and became quite successful at that. Over the years I've met and collaborated with many talents and became inspired to follow another dream and make it reality.
I love creating unique and creative designs that aren't typically seen. I find my inspirations from own personal experiences and travels.
There will also be pieces from Cassandra Elizabeth's first line. She recently came out with a second line, U.N.I. well worth checking out.
I did a feature about her awhile ago, you can read it here!
I'm looking forward to seeing you all on Thursday,
MH
PS Can't make it Thursday? No problem. The Fashion Issue is also available online. ;)
