CreatedHere Magazine is a non-profit organization governed by a volunteer board of directors. This team of professionals has a keen passion for art and they thoughtfully make high level decisions like strategy and vision.
Lately, we’ve looked around the room and noticed - hey, we’re an awesome team, but we’re all a bunch of white people, what’s with that? The art and culture sector in New Brunswick goes far beyond white, and we should demand that our key arts organisations reflect that beautiful diversity.
That’s why we’ve created space for inclusion on our board. Do you self-identify as BIPOC? Join our volunteer board to own one of seven votes that direct the trajectory of CreatedHere.
Time commitment: One board meeting every 3 months (2 hours each), plus an extra two or three meetings per year and email votes as needed when urgent matters arise. Also every three months, participate in our selections process for stories to be featured in upcoming issues. Based on your strengths and interests, you may be asked to do research or propose ideas to help further the organisation.
Responsibilities: Govern with care, thoughtfulness, and most of all with the New Brunswick art community at heart. When you participate in a board meeting for CreatedHere, you will need to leave other affiliations and personal agendas at the door. Becoming a director comes with legal obligations to act with diligence, loyalty to the organization, and obedience to the law (see here for more information).
You may be the one if you:
self-identify as BIPOC,
are active in or passionate about the visual art, fine craft and design community in New Brunswick,
can volunteer your time as indicated above,
have background skills to offer, such as administrative, leadership, governance or any other experience that will help us thrive, and
are interested in leading collaboratively.
You DO NOT need to have board experience to apply.
Simply submit a letter or video explaining your reasons for wanting to become a board member and any experience and skills you would bring to the table.
