Is photography an art? Absolutely. It requires creativity, talent and can convey a powerful message.

#2 of #100NBartist is Chris Donovan

is a young über-talented photojournalist making his mark on the world by telling stories that matter, one photo at a time.

He is originally from New Brunswick and is currently studying photojournalism in Ontario and building up his portfolio any chance he gets. Below is a sampling of some of his work:

You may know Chris as the lens behind Humans of Saint John. Starting in June 2013, he photographed many familiar and unfamiliar faces and told a teeny tiny bit of their story, sometimes funny, sometimes dramatic, always personal. He has featured over 300 faces and the Facebook page has amassed a following of nearly 15,000 people.

Flint: I'm not leaving

Chris' photo essay about the water crisis in Flint, Michigan last year was incredibly poignant and brought to life the emotions of frustration and powerlessness experienced by those going through it. Check out his two photo essays about what happened in Flint.

I shared his photos from a trip to La Tintamarre, where he interviewed and photographed Acadians as they decorated and celebrated la Fête de L'Acadie. His curiosity about Acadian culture came from a very personal place of wanting to uncover his own Acadian roots. His vibrant and colourful photos speak volumes of the Acadians' pride in their culture, language and identity.
